Abridin is isolated from seed extracts of Abrus precatorius. Also, it is derived from Bisnorcholenaldehyde (B508830), which can be used to prepare 27-Nor-Δ4-dafachronic acid as a synthetic ligand of Caenorhabditis elegans DAF-12 receptor. It is also used to synthesize 3β,6α-dihydroxy-5α-cholan-23-one.Also, it is related to the parent compound Progesterone (P755900), which is a teroid hormone produced by the corpus luteum. Induces maturation and secretory activity of the uterine endothelium; suppresses ovulation. Progesterone is implicated in the etiology of breast cancer. This compound is a contaminant of emerging concern (CECs).
