Isowyosine or imG2, is a nucleoside modification seen in archaeal and eukaryal tRNAPhe at position 37 and it is belongs in the wyeosine family of tricyclic ribonucleosides. Wyosine derivatives are vastly diverse in Archaea and the study of isowyosine is of interest in the proposition of a shared ancestor with a common biosynthetic pathway shared between Archaea and Eukaryotes.
