5-Methyl-3-phenyl-4-isoxazolecarboxylic Acid was used as a reagent in the synthesis of 1,2,4-triazole derivatives, one of which diplayed high antiviral potency against cocksackie virus B3. Also used in the synthesis of inhibitors of bifunctional enzyme Hlde which is involved in the synthesis of bacterial heptoses.
