(17β)-3,17-Bis(ethoxymethoxy)-estra-1,3,5(10)-triene is an intermediate in the synthesis of Estradiol 6-N3-Adenine which is a depurinating adduct that is created by the interaction of specific metabolites of estrogens in the body with DNA. Unfortunately, these adducts are endogeneous initiators of various human cancers, such as breast & prostate.
